Floors by Patrick Carman

Published March 13, 2015 by One Page at a Time

This is my first experience with Patrick Carman. I’ve seen his books move through the library and I just never picked up one. Last week I was left without something to read and decided to give this one a go as a kiddo had given it to me thinking I would like it. Crazy clues to follow, lots of ducks and making new friends….things kids are sure to love. This was a quick read with a heartwarming ending. Not sure I will get to book two anytime soon as the partial list for OBOB 2015-16 is out but I will finish the series as soon as time allows.

According to Mr. Carman’s website, Floors is being made into movie…now that’s cool!

The Private School Murders–book 2 of the Confessions series by James Patterson

Published June 1, 2014 by One Page at a Time

I am not sure what it is about this series that I like so much…maybe the combination of James Patterson and a non-dystopian novel for teens….who knows.  What I do know is that when I start, I cannot stop.  I liked this book even better than the first.  There are more murders happening around Tandy..however this time the victims are female private school students.  Tandy is afraid for her, and her friends, safety.  Can Tandy solve these crimes before another murder happens?  Book 3, The Paris Mysteries, is scheduled for release in 2014 and I hope that it won’t be just an ebook as Goodreads is leading me to believe.

The Silent Wife

“The Silent Wife” by A.S.A. Harrison

I listened to the audio version of this book.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. When I read the summary, it sounded somewhat like “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn.  However, it was not. The writer’s style hooked me into the story from the beginning. I thought that the ending could have been better. I googled the author, because I wanted to read her other books, if there were any. I was sad to find out that she had passed away 😦

Summary from Goodreads:

Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater; she lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds; she likes to settle scores. He plays for keeps; she has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices,The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that cant be made, and promises that wont be kept. Expertly plotted, this debut novel ensnares the listener from page one and never lets go.
