~~Book Fair~~

Published September 30, 2014 by neverwearmatchingsox

It’s that time of year again….the dreaded, I mean lovely, book fair.  The kids at school look forward to this every year all year long…as soon as it ends I will get the “When is book fair” question about 100 times.  I love being able to shop from book fair and working it gives me an idea about what the kids are excited for.  Here is my first round of picture book purchases:

I loved this book. It was a fast paced, emotionally charged read that had me on the verge of tears in my breakroom. I can’t remember why I picked this book up–maybe it was Goodreads, maybe it was just from looking at it so many times at the library but regardless, I’m so happy that I read it. This is a must add to the collection at school.

The Alamo…I enjoyed this book.  I have really liked all of this series and this one is no exception.  I love that I can recommend this series to boys or girls.  It is my go to series when I am unsure of what I want to read.  They are quick reads but don’t take that to mean “uneventful” or “boring”…to which they are neither.  Here is a picture of the covers, in reverse order:

These were all titles that I got from Netgalley or Edelweiss however they weren’t all advanced readers copies….some of them have already been released.  They were fun to read, nonetheless….

Change the World Before Bedtime  Everyone can change the world before bedtime…be kind, recycle and eat right….these were just a few of the suggestions in this lovely story.

In New York   I fibbed.  I read this months ago.  I adore this book!!!

Sleepytime Me  I adore this one as well.

My Pet Book  So much fun and completely adorable!  This one is a winner and will be put into my collection at school!

Tonite we did a craft for Halloween.  All of the families were families who had been before so that was great.  There was a sad little one tho because she wanted a story…she got extra bubbles…and purple ink on her hand from the craft.  Timing would be an issue if the craft was more involved but  the kids loved it!

Happy Halloween

“The Silent Wife” by A.S.A. Harrison

I listened to the audio version of this book.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. When I read the summary, it sounded somewhat like “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn.  However, it was not. The writer’s style hooked me into the story from the beginning. I thought that the ending could have been better. I googled the author, because I wanted to read her other books, if there were any. I was sad to find out that she had passed away 😦

Summary from Goodreads:

Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater; she lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds; she likes to settle scores. He plays for keeps; she has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices,The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that cant be made, and promises that wont be kept. Expertly plotted, this debut novel ensnares the listener from page one and never lets go.

Tonite I got a hug and a kiss from one of my regulars….she is usually so shy and while I don’t make her burst out in tears, she doesn’t usually talk to me…tonite however, she came back to give me a hug and a kiss…totally made my night.!
