With the new year, comes new books. Some I have been anxiously awaiting (Marissa Meyer I’m talking to you:-) and others I am just finding out about. Each year on Goodreads I set a goal and in 2015 I almost didn’t make it. The reason? OBOB. I read 12 of the 16 on the list. That is where most of my summer went. This year I am going to have to find a new balance and make sure I beat my goal with no worries. Here are just a few on my list for 2016:
(I do not know if this is final cover art or not)
another recommendation from Goodreads.
just look at this cover
poems about books….what could be finer?!
because I love me some monster books!
So I don’t always have time to spend looking at my recommendations on Goodreads. It is something that I need to dedicate time to as more often than not I get some goodies from the site. My storytime shelf is looking a little sparse so here are the books I am hopeful will take up a temporary existence…..
Why wouldn’t you love a dancing brontosaurus??
Just a fun looking book!
I can read Halloween type books all year long!
So I was asked recently by the principal of the school I work at if I want to teach our tag students with a co-worker. This came as a great surprise for me. I get to work closely with someone who I adore and admire and I also get to help shape some kiddos in ways I haven’t always been able to do. One of the big tasks we are taking on is Oregon Battle of the Books. A statewide trivia contest of sorts. My reading list has changed with just one text message:-)
I’m excited for this new journey….my dystopian tales will just have to wait.
I am in utter shock…a new Lunar Chronicles novel that I had no clue was coming out. Fairest, a novel devoted to Queen Levana, is due to come out in January 2015. A great surprise. Winter, which was slated to be the last book in the series (and number 4) was due to be published Feb 2015 and is now coming out November 2015. I am so excited, I just can’t stand it!
It is now March, 2015 and I forgot to post a review…sheesh I must be slacking. This was a very quick read at less than 300 pages. This book is all about Queen Levana and her rise to power. Easily this could be read anywhere along the way. If you haven’t read any of the Lunar Chronicles you could start with this and get a different perspective. OR you could read it after Cress, like the rest of us, and gain a whole different view of the Queen.
I think I will put this on my to read list…just because I like the cover.
memories of the California Raisins….
Again….I love this cover.
These titles have strictly come from Goodreads as recommendations. I have the picture books on hold and am organizing my thoughts as to which order the others will be read.
Replica may be number 1 on my list after I finish Scars by Cheryl Rainfield
a fun story that I can use at storytime.
A story about friendship and fairness that was ok. Don’t use it at storytime.
These are the books that I absolutely cannot wait for. They are in order of pub date, not by any other ranking
The last book in the Legend trilogy. This one is already out, but my library hasn’t finished processing them…ugh. This series is going on my Christmas wish list!!
This is book 3 in the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. The really cool thing is that these books always come out near my friend Angie’s bday so I never have to think about what to get her. The sad thing…there is always a year between books:-( Pub date Feb 4th, 2014
A kids graphic novel. The first one was called Misadventures of Salem Hyde Spelling Bee. I hope that there are several more in this series. Pub date May 20, 2014.
getting good reviews on goodreads.
I read somewhere that this author, Greg Weisman, created the Gargoyles….I loved the gargoyle cartoon!
Don’t know much about the author or the book. Has a decent rating on goodreads….and I like the cover.
A 12 year old inventor and his genius scientist parents….it just sounds fun!
Here is the first line of the summary off of Netgalley: After the Contamination – an epidemic caused by the super-trendy diet drink SlimPro that turned ordinary citizens into shambling creatures unable to control their violent impulses – the government rounded up the “Connies” to protect the remaining population…..
