Tad Hills….another great author/illustrator

Published October 2, 2016 by One Page at a Time

I think that I first came across Tad Hills when I saw a Rocket book.  Then I was fortunate to see Tad tell a story at Wordstock (in Portland, OR) one year.  What a great experience. He is kind, talented and a great storyteller.

He has several books that he has published, but Rocket and Duck and Goose are my go tos:

The Cookie Fiasco–Dan Santat

Published September 28, 2016 by One Page at a Time

So, I have only read a couple Elephant and Piggie books. I can understand why kids love them. When The Thank You Book came out, I was sad for kids because there would be no new Elephant and Piggie. Well, that isn’t exactly true now. Piggie and Elephant want to share with us, the books they are reading. Book 1 of “Elephant & Piggie Like Reading” is called The Cookie Fiasco by which is written by Dan Santat. Fantastic illustrations in this story of 4 friends with only 3 cookies to share…friendship, math, cookies…what more could you want in a fun new story!! This is a great read and those Elephant and Piggie readers will greatly enjoy this!

Sam Garton and Otter are a fabulous pair

Published August 25, 2016 by One Page at a Time

I have been seriously slacking!  I wrote about more Otter fun without ever mentioning Otter before…I hope Otter and Sam  will forgive me.  Otter lives with Otter Keeper and together they celebrate Halloween, talk about school and Otter even goes to outer space…in addition to starting her own school.  This is such a fun series with great illustrations.  I can’t get enough of Otter.

Picture Day Perfection

Published April 25, 2016 by One Page at a Time

Dan Santat is just a master with pictures. Its the day that kids either love or hate….picture day. What makes the perfect school picture? A perfect outfit? A perfect smile? What about perfect hair? And what about those kids who try as hard as they can and they still can’t get that smile just right? Silly story with great illustrations.

Sasquatch Escape by Suzanne Selfors book 1 of Imaginary Veterinary series illustrated by Dan Santat

Published March 19, 2015 by One Page at a Time

What a fun story. This is the first chapter book that I have read outloud to kids during library and they are so enjoying it. Then *voila* it is on the list for OBOB 2015-16…we are ahead of the game! Ben Silverstein, age ten, is sent to stay with his grandfather in Buttonville. Grandpa Abe frequents the senior center, where every day is a treat and pudding day is the most popular!! Enter Pearl Petal, a trouble maker according to the adults, and a new friendship is born. Both Pearl and Ben think they have seen a dragon flying through the air. Was it truly a dragon or is this another of Ben’s “stories”. So glad that this is a series, can’t wait to continue on!!!! Suzanne Selfors has a great website with some Sasquatch Escape related activities http://www.suzanneselfors.com/imaginary.html 15790869
