The Cookie Fiasco–Dan Santat

Published September 28, 2016 by One Page at a Time

So, I have only read a couple Elephant and Piggie books. I can understand why kids love them. When The Thank You Book came out, I was sad for kids because there would be no new Elephant and Piggie. Well, that isn’t exactly true now. Piggie and Elephant want to share with us, the books they are reading. Book 1 of “Elephant & Piggie Like Reading” is called The Cookie Fiasco by which is written by Dan Santat. Fantastic illustrations in this story of 4 friends with only 3 cookies to share…friendship, math, cookies…what more could you want in a fun new story!! This is a great read and those Elephant and Piggie readers will greatly enjoy this!

Sam Garton, author of  I Am Otter and Otter In Space, has ventured into beginning reader land with Otter: The Best Job Ever and Otter:  Oh No,  Bathtime.  Same great illustrations, same fun Otter that we have gotten to know but now for kids who are starting their reading journey.  A must add to my school collection!

Harriet Ziefert, Language Arts and Reading Specialist, has created a fabulous series of beginning readers called Flip A Word.  Each book has 3 or 4 familiar sounds that kids will recognize and by turning a page, readers will create a new word with these sounds.  Great illustrations.  This is a fabulous series for those new or even struggling readers.

Published January 15, 2015 by One Page at a Time

So you can pretty much read Fancy Nancy in any order (and OH by the by, did you know that Nancy is 10!! And AAA has teamed up with FN and Flat Stanley for passenger safety and somehow I missed this one. Nancy has too many tutus in her closet. So many, in fact, that the closet doors won’t close. When the school decides to hold a clothing exchange, Nancy’s mom thinks this the perfect time to get rid of a few tutus…but will Nancy find the tutu of her dreams at the exchange???
