I have said it before and I will say it again, I completely and totally judge books by their covers. My first impression of a book will lead me to have either A)the highest of hopes or B)the lowest of expectations. Now, deciding to read a book that you have the highest hopes for could be problematic if it’s a complete bomb…just as reading a book that you have no expectations for could be a complete surprise. This book came with the highest of hopes…and I’m happy to say that I was not disappointed. Elliot is a tiny elephant (well tiny relative to the size of elephants) and he lives in a big city. He is often overlooked which leads to much disappointment as he wants a cupcake from the bakery. He is walking through the park and discovers an even tinier someone who has an even bigger problem than him. We follow along as Elliot and his new friend figure out how to solve their problems. Absolutely a must read!
Book 2 which is called Little Elliot, big family is due out in Oct (2015). I can’t wait. Mike Curato has a website (http://mikecurato.wordpress.com/) and also has art available to purchase (http://www.imagekind.com/artists/mikecurato/pencil/fine-art-prints). I think a pencil drawing of Elliot will be in order!!!
